DevonOne of the UK’s more rural areas, Devon is home to incredible scenery and rugged landscapes. The region is studded with historic homes, vibrant cities, and wild moors. Explore the area of Dartmoor, boasting several national parks and the setting for the famous Sherlock Holmes novel, The Hound of Baskervilles. Delve further into the literary world with a visit to Greenway House, the country retreat of crime writer, Agatha Christie, who also used the setting in many of her novels. Visit one of Devon’s prettiest coastal towns, Dartmouth. With a long naval history stretching back to the medieval period, Dartmouth provided a departure point for the D-Day Landings during WWII and is currently home to the Britannia Royal Naval College.

CornwallContinue further west to the ancient Celtic kingdom of Cornwall, where the land meets the sea. A former historic mining, fishing, and farming town, Cornwall has reinvented itself as one of the region’s most creative corners. Now home to a thriving food scene, indulge in the local delicacies from the famous Cornish pastry to Cornish cream tea to freshly caught seafood. Delve into the area’s art scene, which was a base for many Victorian artists and home to the Newlyn School of Art. Cornwall also boasts beautiful gardens, quaint fishing villages, and elegant country mansions, as well as St. Michael’s Mount, Cornwall’s answer to Normandy’s Mont Saint-Michel.

Optional Postlude to LondonNo visit to England is complete without a stop in London. On this optional postlude, explore this grand city by the river. Immersed in history and a timeless innovator of art and culture, London is a city of contrasts from eye-opening antiquities, such as the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and Big Ben, to newly innovated landmarks, such as the Shard, the Tate Modern, and the Sky Garden. Explore this diverse, cosmopolitan city, infused with centuries of art, culture, and history.
